This excursion will bring participants to a remote scenic island paradise on the Lower Mississippi River, full of wildlife and creative inspiration. Sit on the white sand beach and watch the world go by, or head into the magical willow forest to find your artistic spirit! Relax and rejoin into the rhythms of the natural world.

Bring any personal supplies you need! Potential activities include (but aren’t exclusive to): Painting, yoga, storytelling, wood burning, music, dream-catcher weaving, writing, star gazing, basket weaving, birdwatching, spiritual fasting, tai chi, meditation, fossil/rock hunting, foraging, campfire cooking and anything else you can think of!

You can also explore with day excursions in canoes & enjoy delicious home-cooked meals around the campfire.

    Start: 10am paddle 3 miles to find camp

    Optional day excursions on middle days.

    Camp remains home for the week so you can settle and allow the creativity flow

    Paddle 3 miles back on the last day.

    Quapaw Canoe Company will provide canoes and all safety gear, as well as dry bags for each participant.

    Pack any electronics or valuables in dry bag, dry box, or zip lock bags

  • We’ll pack a 5-gal jug of water to refill your personal water bottles.

  • Dress appropriately for weather. Wear shoes that can get muddy and wet (or go barefoot).

  • Quapaw Canoe Company will provide lunches, dinners, and breakfasts for each day of the journey, this is included in the price for the Artist Retreat. Meals are cooked fresh on an open fire.
