Lower Arkansas River

A 3-6 day paddle trip in a voyageur canoe

Weather and safety guidelines for outdoor activities, including 0-4 days forecast, warning about difficult high water, and moderate to low water levels for teens and adults.

Go where few have gone before on this remote wilderness adventure - no experience necessary.

You will see neither tow boats or civilization on the Lower Arkansas River, and likely not another human soul.

The trip begins at the Wilbur D. Mills dam, near Pendleton, AR.

A group of people sitting and standing on a sandy beach near a body of water under a clear blue sky, some using phones and others talking.

Incredible memories are waiting for you…

Sunset over a river with clouds reflecting orange and pink hues in the water.

The Arkansas River winds some 40 miles to its confluence with the Muddy Mississippi. From there the options are a short upstream paddle to Rosedale, MS, or a longer downstream paddle to Greenville, MS.

Be aware, flow on the Arkansas River is typically much slower than the Mississippi, so factor that into your daily mileages.
