Vicksburg to Baton Rouge
A 302 mile journey from “The Key to the South” down to the Huey P. Long bridge of Baton Rouge
This is a beginner level “expedition-style” trip.
Maybe you are a scouts group wanting to step it up a notch and really teach your scouts some life skills. Maybe you are forming a team of people and want them to work well together–this adventure beats any corporate retreat. Whatever your role, this is a perfect introductory-level expedition trip.
The Mississippi River transforms during this trip and you will be witness to it all.

Visit the bluffs and history of Vicksburg, MS, then continue down to the high bluffs of Natchez, the Mississippi River’s oldest city, full of eccentric charm. Then jump further south where the alligators reign supreme!
You will pass the Old River Control structure - the gateway to the Atchafalaya River. You may even decide to explore the bayou for a day! Then continue on to Baton Rouge, where you will be greeted by massive ocean liners, carrying thousands of tons of cargo.
Major Milestones/Highlights
Week 1: Vicksburg, MS, Natchez, MS,
Week 2: Old River Control, Mouth of the Atchafalaya, Baton Rouge
No canoeing experience is required to participate in this trip. You must however, be an experienced camper. You also need to be mentally prepared for an “expedition-style” trip of approximately 2 weeks on the water.
In addition “Expedition-style” trips, due to their nature will be completely custom and require more advanced planning, and coordination.
